Saving money vs. health

So I'm sitting outside of a McD in Memphis, TN. Yes I am paying for the internet access just to publish this little strain of thought I have begun mulling over. Obviously as a college student, the consensus is "Cheap is Good". I mean, how can you beat 3 double cheeseburgers, fries and a drink for just over 5 dollars? That's basically lunch and dinner! But where do you draw the line with value and health. Those double cheeseburgers and fries are like poison to the human body!

This had lead me to cheap alternatives for college students. How to live life on a budget and still eat healthy...or at least healthier. Try these sites for good ideas on eating healthier on a budget

  1. AngelFoodMinistries.com is a not for profit organization that provides quality meal boxes for a steep discount. The menu varies from month to month and they also have specialty add-on orders to the original box. Visit the site here to look at the selection for the month, find location near you, and order your box now. The basic orders are meant to feed a family of 4 for a week. A single college student can make this stretch a looong way!
  2. Cooks.com has quite a list of recipes for college students or people who just want to eat healthy on a budget. Give it a chance and you could save a little extra pocket cash or money for your savings account.
  3. Kroger has a Plus Shopper program. Signup online or at your local Kroger store and you could see deep savings on your groceries. Shop their online site and you can save even more with exlusive coupons only available to their online shoppers.
I'd like to hear from readers who have other ideas or know of any other programs for cheap and healthy living. Until next time
